Last month, after 2 and 1/2 years in Tuscany, I finally got to see Michelangelo's amazing statue of David.
Awe-struck I read the information about this 17ft high statue..jpg)
- Michelangelo used a block of stone he found lying by the cathedral in Florence.
- He believed that the image of David was already in this scrap piece of marble and and all he had to do was unveil it.
Not only did Michaelangelo create an amazingly beautiful piece of timeless art from something tossed to one side, but he could see that beauty inside a seemingly rubbishy block of marble.
This sculpture can show us, lovers of beauty – wanting to create it in our lives, a way forward: No matter how crappy, uninspiring or useless the outside (us, our body, the situation, the relationship, or environment) seems there IS beauty within it. BELIEVE that it's there, go after it little by little, and you'll soon reveal it in all it's David-inspired glory!

The Power Of Belief Shown In A Naked Man!

powerful reminder Alison. so true. Michelangelo had a vision of David on this piece of rock and all he had to do was unveil him. I love hearing that..
